Difference Between Individual and Organization DSC

When applying for a Digital Signature Certificate in India, one of the first choices you must make is whether you need an Individual DSC or an Organisation DSC. Understanding the difference is crucial because the wrong type will be rejected by the government portal you're trying to use.

What is an Individual DSC?

An Individual DSC (also called a Personal DSC) is issued in the name of a specific person. The certificate displays the holder's name, such as "Rajesh Kumar." Individual DSCs are used when you need to sign documents in a personal capacity — for example, an income tax return, a director's form on MCA, or a personal declaration.

What is an Organisation DSC?

An Organisation DSC (also called a Company DSC or Corporate DSC) is issued in the name of an organisation and includes the organisation's name alongside the individual's name. For example: "ABC Pvt Ltd - Rajesh Kumar." This type is required when signing documents on behalf of a company or organisation.
