The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) is the apex body managing India's foreign trade policy. If you hold an Importer Exporter Code (IEC) and wish to access the DGFT portal for licence applications, modification of IEC, or any online service, you need a specially issued DGFT Digital Signature Certificate.
What Makes DGFT DSC Different?
A DGFT DSC is not simply a standard Class 3 DSC registered on the DGFT portal. It is a purpose-specific certificate issued by authorised CAs with a special OID (Object Identifier) that identifies it as DGFT-compatible. The DGFT portal recognises only these specially issued certificates.
- Can be stored on the same USB token as a Class 3 DSC (multiple certificates per token)
- Valid for 2 years (most common) — same renewal process as Class 3
- Available from: eMudhra, Capricorn CA, Vsign (most popular for DGFT)
